Grown in Montenegro

Vranac berries are large and deeply colored, with its dark berries growing on moderately vigorous and very productive vines.

Harvested by hand, the Vranac is considered the most important variety of grape in Montenegro. Upon the first sip, it is understood why; this robust wine presents a rich, deep red - almost black - color, with spiced aromas of cooked fruit. The taste is subtle, round, and full with a longer, smoother finish which sits like velvet upon the tongue. It is no wonder the Vranac grape has been winning awards since 1907.

Interestingly, the word Vranec means Black Stallion and that turns out to be a very descriptive name.

2011 marked the golden harvest of grapes for the Plantaze producers. For $10.10 - lucky us!

If you love seasoned BBQs and full bodied food, this wine has flavour enough to hold its own.
