Why Doesn't EVERYONE  know Their Names???

Jamaican scientist lands blow in cancer fight

Rights to the patent are shared with Dr. George Levy, above right, a Jamaica-born medical doctor living in the United States. More on him in next year's Balance N' Health.

December, 2010, The Jamaican Gleaner announced that, "A Jamaican scientist is being celebrated on THE international stage for finding an effective treatment for some types of cancer!" The all caps, italics and exclamation mark were added for the purpose of this article; they were not included the original.

The story went on to inform of whom this brilliant master-mind was and that he worked with the Scientific Research Council (SRC) - an institution mandated to "collect, collate and review" scientific and technical data/ efforts that utilize local resources, to promote improved quality of life, then share said findings with the world. The SRC was successful with developing Jamaica's local sorrel industry and jointly held the patent for developing the country's natural pesticides.

Williams isolated then patented a compound found in the well-known Jamaican weed known as Guinea Hen-Weed-dibenzyl trisulphide (DTS) after thirteen years of research. This compound is next to undergo clinical trials then have a pharmaceutical product developed.

The amazing fact about Dr. Williams' discovery is, it has the potential to fight  cancers like: melanoma, lung cancer and breast cancer, prostate cancer - and WHAT??? "The molecule also has implications for the treatment of aging diseases."

Did somebody say this Jamaican doctor's discovery could also treat AGING DISEASES as in: reduce, arrest, SLOW the process of aging?!

As if that weren't impressive enough, the effects of this discovery also show promise for alzheimers patients!

Similar articles (to the December 2010 piece) trickled across the media circuit with impressive headlines like:

But low and behold, if one was waiting news of this incredible mention on mainstream media, one would be waiting a long time. Remember, the original article on the Guinea Hen Weed discovery was in 2010. It is now days before 2016 - six years later - and WHO has heard the names Lawrence Williams and George Levy? They do not seem to warrant even a three minute blurb on CNN, CTV, CBC, FOX or NBC ... in spite of the promise of a cure for some of the world's worst diseases - IN SPITE OF the multimillion dollar offer from an American company to purchase the patent for this discovery... by the way, how many million is "multi million?" Only one hundred - which must have been what Dr. Williams said when the offer was extended, "ONLY one hundred million dollars? NO! I know this find is worth MUCH more than that!!"

Dr. Lawrence Williams and Dr. George Levy may not be a household names beyond the communities of Jamaica, but they are smart enough to know gold when they have it in their hands!
